True courage is doing what you’re afraid to do

There can be no courage unless you’re scared. If you have nothing scaring you in life, you cannot build courage for anything!

You have all heard the story of “the fake bull” which tried to mount the cow but fell down in a thunderous crush! She looked at him and could not help laughing out her heart! The Bull was also terrified and gravely ashamed in front of the entire Krall and his master. But after seriously recollecting and reflecting on his burning need the Bull gained sufficient ground and charged at the cow, successfully mounting her and having a blissful moment! In life true courage is doing what you are afraid of doing and there cannot be courage unless you are scared. If the bull was overpowered by fear and shame when he crushed to the ground, he may not have had that bliss moment.

True courage is feeling the fear but going ahead to do it anyway! Many people have failed to start on anything in life because they are afraid. If you are waiting for fear to disappear before you take an action or make a choice, you are going to be waiting indefinitely. Stop waiting for the perfect conditions to arise. Stop waiting to not feel scared. Feel the fear and do it anyway – THEN, and only then, will you experience true courage. If you want to be a hero or a leader you must be willing to face the fear and uncertainty in your life. If you asked me ‘can a man still be brave if he’s afraid?’ I will answer: ‘That is the only time a man can be brave”. There is no living thing that is not afraid when it faces danger.

The true courage is in facing danger when you are afraid. Courage is about doing what you’re afraid to do. Being terrified but going ahead and doing what must be done—that’s courage. The one who feels no fear is a fool, and the one who lets fear rule him is a coward. On the other hand, courage is knowing what to fear and what not to fear. Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage. Most of our obstacles would melt away if, instead of cowering before them, we should make up our minds to walk boldly through them. There can be no courage unless you’re scared.

The bull gained his courage only after experiencing the fear. Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore. However Passion is and should always be the driver of courage. “Passion is what drives us crazy, what makes us do extraordinary things, to discover, to challenge ourselves. Passion is what made the bull to rise up and try again. And it paid off so well.

A courageous person is one that follows their heart and intuition. On the other hand, what you should know is that a hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer. Giving up so early eliminates courage from our lives. Courage sometimes can be exhibited in just standing against evil rather than defeating it. The greatest heroes stand because it is right to do so, not because they believe they will walk away with their lives. Such selfless courage is a victory in itself. Speak your mind, even if your voice shakes. Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says I’ll try again tomorrow. It’s the strength of that voice that may make all the difference. “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.”
